Parade kicks off holiday season in Paw Paw
The Paw Paw Parade Committee is hosting a parade to kick off the holiday season on Saturday, December 1, starting at 4:30 p.m. at Moser Ave. and end at the Bank of Romney on Winchester Street.
A brief tree lighting ceremony will be held at 5:30 p.m. and refreshments will be served at the bank and after at the Methodist Church Social Hall. Chief of Police Harthun will handle traffic.
Council report
The Paw Paw Town Council is still working on cell phone service. Citizens can contact representatives, both state and federally, and add their voice to the effort.
The sewer replacement project is ongoing.
The council is continuing work on a comprehensive plan and need to appoint a planning commission as required to proceed. Any citizen is welcome to be considered for the planning council and should contact Town Hall if interested.
Violators of property ordinances for unsightly debris, old cars etc. are still being pursued.
Language has been added to the pet ordinance to require owners to utilize pooper scoopers. Violation of this additional requirement could result in a fine.
Chief of Police Harthun gave the monthly report as: 45 stops, 22 calls, 29 citations, 15 warnings, one juvenile and 15 foot patrols.
The next council meeting will be December 3 at 7 p.m.
