Wallis L. Boland
Wallis Lee Boland, 87, of Berkeley Springs, died Sunday, November 18, 2012 at Berkeley Springs Rehabilitation and Nursing.
Born August 15, 1925 in Alexandria, Va., he was the son of the late Joseph Reed and Lydia May Posey Boland.
He was a member of Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church.
He was a machinist mate with the United States Navy. He earned the Pacific Theater Ribbon, American Theater Ribbon, Victory Medal and Philippine Liberation Medal.
He was a painter for Fairfax County Schools in recent years. He attended public schools in Alexandria. He liked gardening and carpentry.
He is survived by one son, Joseph Lee Boland, Front Royal, Va.; two daughters, Callie Marie Robinson, Woodbridge, Va. and Julie Kathleen Reynolds, Springfield; two sisters, Elsie M. Fagan, Alexandria and Jeannette True, Albequerque, N.M.; six grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Kathleen Jeannette Blush Boland on October 30, 2010 and two brothers, Edward Joseph Boland and Stanley Reed Boland.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 24 at Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church, 6752 Winchester Grade Road, Berkeley Springs, with Rev. Dr. Dennis E. Jackman. Burial with military graveside honors by Tri-State Honor Guard will be in adjoining cemetery.
Family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. on Saturday, November 24 at the church.
Arrangements are being handled by Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 95 Union Street, Berkeley Springs.
