Meatless days

Dear Editor:
What a surprise: Fox News ran a story headlined “Los Angeles City Council declares all future Mondays to be meatless.”

The article said no one is being forced to not eat meat, but the resolution is meant to encourage residents to be vegetarians one day a week. “We can reduce saturated fats and reduce the risk of heart disease,” said L.A. Councilwoman Jan Perry. “It is asking people to think about the food choices they make. Eating less meat can reverse some of our nation’s most common illnesses.”

The Seventh-day Adventist Church here in Berkeley Springs has been holding a free monthly Supper Club, a vegetarian meal with recipes to help people learn how to prepare nutritious meatless meals. There’s no Supper Club in December because of the busy holiday times, but it resumes again January 15.
