January trial date for explosives case
November 16, 2012
The trial of Matthew Dean Smith has again been reset and will now be held on Tuesday, January 29, in U.S. District Court, Martinsburg, with Judge Gina Groh presiding.
Smith, 32, was indicted in July on a federal charge of illegally importing explosive material. The charge stems from an investigation by Federal Alcohol, Tobacco & Firearms agents, West Virginia State Police and the State Fire Marshal’s Office.
Officers from the investigating agencies reported confiscating a long list of explosives from Smith’s property in Great Cacapon in September, 2011.
