Frances I. Wachter

Frances Irene Wachter, 96, of Berkeley Springs, died Sunday, October 21, 2012 at Berkeley Springs Rehabilitation & Nursing.

Born March 20, 1916 in the Oakland Section of Morgan County, she was the daughter of the late William Clarence, Sr. and Farra Ellen Ambrose Yost.

She was a member of Faith in God Chapel in Berkeley Springs.

She attended both Morgan Grove and North Berkeley Schools.

She had worked at Jacobs Brothers Sewing Factory in Hancock. She and her late husband Homer Wachter, owned and operated the Park Haven Motel, Berkeley Springs.

She was active with Senior Life Services of Morgan County, liked crocheting and gardening.

She is survived by one son, Ronald Gene “Bo” Wachter, Upper Marlboro, Md.; one daughter, Vickie Lynn Bergen, Northville, Mich.; one sister, Janet Ruth Avery, Berkeley Springs; five grandchildren, Steven Wachter, Chesapeake, Va., Brian Wachter, Chantilly, Va., Jacob Bergen, Northville, Stacey Weaver, Mechanicsville, Md. and Sherrie Parker, Shepherdstown; six great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husand, George Homer Wachter on March 14, 1979; one daughter, Joan Irene Weaver; four sisters, Mildred Guttridge, Louise Morgret, Pauline Rhinehart and Margaret “Peg” Allemong; three brothers, William Clarence “Sonny” Yost, Jr., Robert “Buck” Yost and Denver Yost and an infant sibling.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Friday, October 26 at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 95 Union Street, Berkeley Springs with Pastor Ken Dyar officiating. Interment will be in Oakland Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 2-7 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
