Special hike Saturday
A special Saturday morning hike has been planned for Saturday, October 27. Check-in 8:30 a.m. Visitor Center, Harpers Ferry National Historic Park (off U.S. 340). To avoid being charged admission to the park, be sure to tell attendant that you are participating in the Harpers Ferry Community Hike.
This new trail has special significance because it would help close the gap between the WV 9 pathway and Harpers Ferry that the Trailblazers intend to bridge with the Eastern Panhandle Recreational Trail.
About 1.4 miles. Although the terrain is not steep, it’s a bit uneven (and possibly muddy) in places, so wear appropriate footwear. Dress accordingly. Take a bottle of water and an energy bar.
Bus transfers (compliments of River Riders): After a short orientation, bussed to the starting point in Harpers Ferry and begin hike up the Potomac. Sites include lower town, dam/old generating plant, abandoned canal, John Brown’s Cave, zip lines, more.
11:30 a.m.: At conclusion of hike, River Riders will bus back to the HF Visitor Center. Should arrive at noon.
Hosted by NPS and Eastern Panhandle Trailblazers.
