Boosters ask for help
Dear Editor:
The fall season is upon us and that means Friday night football along with weekly sporting events in cross-country, golf, soccer and volleyball for the athletes at Berkeley Springs High School. Fall also means the Athletic Boosters are working to support athletes and encourage them to take pride in their school, their sport and their effort as they represent the Indians.
In late 2011, the Berkeley Springs Athletic Boosters were reorganized by a small group of volunteers. Booster numbers may still be few, but our group is encouraged with the interest of parents, coaches and the administration at Berkeley Springs High School.
To date, our efforts have primarily been operating the concession stands, but it is our goal to establish a strong membership that can maintain a number of committees such as safety, fundraising and publicity as well as the concessions. It will take more members and more community involvement to reach this goal.
The Boosters are committed to reaching a goal of supporting athletes, and we are requesting help from our community. We are hopeful that more individuals, parents and community groups will express a willingness to help as well as the business community.
As our efforts become known, more help has been expressed and we are grateful. We anticipate that through the increasing community support, Indian athletes will be successful in their endeavors.
Monthly Booster meetings are being held at the high school gymnasium. The next meeting is Monday, November 5 at 7 p.m. Anyone who would like more information or to just meet with our group should plan to attend.
