Beatrice E. Jakubowski
Beatrice Ellen “Bea” Jakubowski, 81, of Berkeley Springs, died Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at Providence St. Peter Hospital, Olympia, Wash.
Born September 23, 1931, in Chicago, Ill., she was the daughter of the late Nels Manfred Hanson and Eva Charlotte Hanson.
A 1953 graduate of Northwestern University, she worked for the Scotts Foresman Publishing Comp-any, Chicago; Biospherics, Inc., Rockville, Md. and Prospect Associates, Rockville.
She retired from Prospect and made her home in Berkeley Springs in 2004 where she was actively involved with the Morgan County Public Library, the Brain Games, the West Virginia’s Writers Inc. and the Ice House Gallery.
She also wrote plays for Piecework Project and played bridge at the Morgan County Senior Life program.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jan Kazimierz Jakubowski.
She is survived by two daughters, Eva Bozena Jakubowski, New York, N.Y. and Monica Ellen Baker, Vancouver, Wash.; two sons, John Eric Jakubowski, Randle, Wash. and Stefan Hans Jakubowski, Montgomery Village, Md.; six grandchildren, Christopher Hans Jakubowski, Cayla Michelle Jakubowski, Erin Charlotte Baker, Alexander Kazimierz Castillo, Gemma Beatrice Jakubowski and Uma Ariana Jakubowski.
A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, November 10 at the Cacapon Resort State Park in the Lord Fairfax room from 2 to 6 p.m.
