Find how to work together
Dear Editor:
A few weeks ago, Gareth Foulds wrote a timely and descriptive account of his experience at the Fairfax Coffee House when he saw the local band, Johnny Robinson and the Subliminals. In his words, it was “an awakening.”
That concert was the launching of an idea that we truly hope will be an awakening within our community. In an environment where much seems to be based on the bottom line, where profit takes priority over everything else, we want to introduce an economy that is based on a relational currency.
We all are gifted in unique areas. We all have abundance in certain things, and we all have needs in certain parts of our life. If we can find a way to work together, without religious or social bias, we can combine our weaknesses and strengths to become a healthy community.
We feel that we have found a way to do this by providing help and support for individuals and businesses to become successful by putting actors, musicians, artists, craftsmen and others together in a mutually beneficial agreement.
On our immediate agenda, we plan to open a facility in town that helps kids with school work and projects by putting volunteers together with kids in a fun environment. We plan to help kids and the young at heart to have access to music lessons and a chance to play in a band.
If you want to be a part of this “Awakening,” you can contact me at 304-268-8141.
