Dolores F. Jones
Dolores Filomena “Dee” Jones, age 84, of Berkeley Springs, WV, died on Monday, September 24, 2012 at Berkeley Springs Rehabilitation & Nursing while under the care of Hospice of the Panhandle.
Born January 8, 1928 in Brownton, WV, she was the daughter of the late Guy and Filomena La Caria Costello.
She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Berkeley Springs. Dee graduated from Philippi High School in Philippi, WV, earned her Bachelor’s degree from Our Lady of the Elms College in Holyoke, MA and her Master’s degree from the University of Hartford at Hartford, CT. She had worked as a school teacher with both the Massachusetts and Connecticut public school systems. She was a member of the Grange, the American Sports Car Association and was active with Senior Citizens Organizations in West Simsbury, CT. She was a world traveler, visiting 40 countries and four continents and loved football, especially the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Surviving are one sister, Helena Richelene Brant and her husband Joseph, her caretakers in recent years, of Berkeley Springs, one brother, F. Richard Costello and his wife Shelby of Clarksburg, WV and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Milton Clifford Jones in 2002, five sisters and four brothers.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 4, 2012 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Liberty and S. Washington Streets, Berkeley Springs, WV with the Rev. Fr. Leonard A. Smith as celebrant, Private burial will be at St. Peter’s Cemetery, Danbury, CT.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Parkinson’s Foundation, 1359 Broadway, Suite 1509, New York, NY 10018.
Arrangements are being handled by Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 95 Union Street, Berkeley Springs, WV.
