WVU Alumni Crab Feast

Dear Editor:
The National Capital Chapter of the WVU Alumni Association just completed number 35 of its annual crab feasts. WVU President Jim Clements along with a number of other officials and the Mountaineer joined this year’s capacity crowd. This alumni event has developed into the most popular WVU Alumni gathering that is not associated with an athletic event.

When we started the Crab Feast it was entirely self catered which included cooking the crabs. A necessary element to successfully enjoying the Chesapeake Bay Blue Crabs is a trusty crab mallet. My good friend and Berkeley Springs High and WVU grad, the late Wade Frock, recommended that your then publisher, Warren Buzzerd, be enlisted to made the hand crafted mallets. He agreed and the crab feast has gone on to a great success.

This year we were honored to have former WVU quarterback, Major Harris, in attendance at our Crab Fest.
