Badly designed lot

Dear Editor:
Maybe it is just me, but the latest changes to the Berkeley Springs Post Office parking lot is a bit much. The first question I have is who designed it to begin with. They must have had a third grade education.

I have been to many post offices and have never seen anything as absurd as this lot. Just to put a piece of mail in the outside box involves a series of u-turns, k-turns and backing in and out of parking spaces. I have seen people come in the exit side of the parking lot more than one time. Having an exit and entrance on the same side is down right stupid.

I had often thought if they just reverse the box direction so you can put the mail in the box at the entrance then go straight on and out the back would make a lot more sense. Well, that can’t work now due to the new chains.

If there is a safety issue instead of restricting customer access, maybe it is time to fix the parking lot insanity. Why not just lock the doors to the post office and stop anybody from being able to use it? That will solve everything.

With the condition of our postal service, maybe they should think about making it a bit easier to get there, not harder. It is almost laughable.

Don’t get me wrong I do not want to put any workers in danger, but really what is next? Maybe it is just me, but the person who designed the lot should not go on “Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader?”
