Mary A. Shoemaker

Mary Alice Shoemaker, 72, of Berkeley Springs, died Tuesday, August 14, 2012 at Berkeley Springs Rehabilitation & Nursing.

Born March 28, 1940 in Berkeley Springs, she was the daughter of the late Boyd and Bessie Bohrer Murphy.

She was a member of Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church in Berkeley Springs.

She attended the West Branch School.

She had worked as a babysitter and was a food service worker with Fox’s Pizza and Tari’s Café, retiring from Tari’s in 2006 after 10 years of service. She had been a homemaker in recent years.
She liked festivals, carnivals and music.

Surviving are her husband of 53 years, David Franklin Shoemaker, at home; four sons, John Boyd Shoemaker, Tommy Jack Shoemaker, David Eugene Shoemaker and Daniel Elwood Shoemaker, all of Berkeley Springs and three grandchildren, Kayla Sue Myers, Colleen Rose Shoemaker and Megan Michelle Shoemaker, all of Berkeley Springs.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, James Marvin Shoemaker on March 13, 1978; one sister, Faye E. Beatty and one brother, Jack Carter Murphy.

Funeral services were conducted Friday, August 17 at Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church, Berkeley Springs with Rev. Dr. Dennis Jackman officiating. Interment was in Mt. Olivet Church Cemetery.

The Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Berkeley Springs, handled the arrangements.
