Circuit Judge Gina Groh has set a new trial date of February 19, 2008, for Brian Daniel Murray.

In a 3-2 ruling, the West Virginia Supreme Court ordered a new trial for Murray last month.

Bath Council hears trash truck woes

Mayor Susan Webster welcomed newly elected Councilman Scott Merki to the Bath Town Council at the first meeting of the new fiscal year on Monday, July 2.

Funding sought for Paw Paw Rail Trail loop

Funding is being sought from different sources to create a loop along the Western Maryland Rail Trail in the Paw Paw Bends area.

The Rail Trail loop would run from Paw Paw to the C & O Canal and on to Bond's Landing on Green Ridge State Forest in Maryland, return to the C & O Canal and loop back to Paw Paw, said former Paw Paw Mayor Julie Kidwell, who is now town recorder.

Boy had to get rabies shots after bite by unknown dog

The case of a boy who was bitten by a Rottweiler while riding his bike was discussed when the Bath Town Council met on Monday, July 2.

Mayor Susan Webster told council about a complaint from a citizen that her teenage son had suffered the bite while riding his bike on Washington Street two weeks ago. The Rottweiler was on a lease and was being walked by the owner.

Employees sue hospital over pension plan

Fifteen War Memorial Hospital employees are battling the hospital over a $675,000 surplus that has accumulated in a defined benefits pension plan adopted in 1972 to provide retirement benefits.

They filed a lawsuit in Morgan County Circuit Court on Tuesday, June 26, seeking control of the money.

Metal art show opens

Iron, aluminum, brass and bronze are cast, welded, forged and hammered into a variety of objects by 17 artists featured in All About Metal, the Morgan Arts Council's (MAC) special exhibit opening at the Ice House Gallery in Berkeley Springs on Friday, July 6 at 7:30 p.m. The show is curated by local metal artist Mark Schwenk and hangs through August 12.

The metal show gala opening is part of an Artwalk that begins at Mountain Laurel Crafts on the square from 5 to 7:30 p.m. in a meet-the-artist reception for David Shombert whose segmented woodturnings are highlighted in Symmetry Enhanced.

Ambulance fees on July bills



If a resident owns more than one living unit, he may not be charged more than one ambulance fee if that living unit is permanently unoccupied or the resident himself is using it. Otherwise, both the owner and occupant are jointly liable for the ambulance fee.
