Town drafts new water rate ordinance

The Bath Town Council has decided to draft set new water rates after months of discussion, a study by the West Virginia Public Service Commission (PSC), the water line replacement project, a two year moratorium on new water taps and recurring problems with pumps at the Berkeley Springs Water Works.

Woman arrested after hit-and-run accident

A 22-year-old Pennsylvania woman was arrested on Wednesday, November 28, after allegedly hitting another vehicle and leaving the scene of the accident.

Christina Joy Hayes of Hermitage, Pa. was charged with a felony drug charge of controlled substances delivery and two misdemeanor complaints of an accident causing damage to a vehicle and driving while her license was suspended or revoked.

Benefits planned for fire chief and medic injured in accident

Benefits are being planned to help Steve Moreland, Paw Paw Fire Chief and Morgan County Rescue Service emergency medical technician, who was seriously injured in a vehicle accident on November 19.

A benefit fund for him has also been established at CNB to help Moreland and his family with their rising medical expenses as the holiday season approaches.

Toys for Tots event at Stotler

The second annual Toys for Tots Holiday Open House will be held at the old Stotler's Crossroads General Store this Sunday, December 2 from 12 to 4 p.m.

Visitors are asked to take a new, unwrapped toy to put under the Christmas tree to benefit Toys for Tots. Refreshments will be served.

Easton resigns from council

Kenny Easton has resigned from the Town of Bath Council. In a letter to Mayor Susan Webster received November 9, Easton said he could no longer serve on council because he is moving out of town.

Easton has served on council since his election in 2005 and was reelected in June to a second term. Previously, at the November 6 council meeting, Easton said that he had retired from his job with the Morgan County Commission.
