We all have memories of when we first heard that the Morgan County Courthouse was burning one year ago today. We remember the visual shock as we first came by the site and how it took a while for the loss to sink in.

Commissioner Brenda Hutchinson shared memories of the morning of the courthouse fire in a recent interview. She said that she'd gotten a phone call from her brother that morning at 5:30 a.m. saying that the courthouse was on fire.

The appointment of Wayne Omps to the Morgan County Planning Commission is on hold due to questions raised by County Commissioner Brenda Hutchinson.

Omps' appointment to the planning group will be discussed at the Morgan County Commission meeting on Friday, August 10.

If you've visited the offices of any variation of Kesecker Insurance and Realty over the past four decades, you've probably met Kathryn "Kate" Eppinger. She retired May 30 after 42 years and nine months of service.

4-H program just keeps growing



The Morgan County 4-H program keeps growing each year. Some 110 kids are members this year, said Cindy Smalley, 4-H program assistant. The Morgan County Extension Office sponsors the 4-H program.

Drug busts turn up marijuana and heroin

Paw Paw is building a new fire hall



The Paw Paw Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Service is planning to build a new fire hall. The 80 foot by 80 foot fire hall will be constructed on their current lot on Moser Avenue, which is 1.41 acres.

Skate park may go south of town



A parcel of land along U.S. Route 522 South is being considered as a potential site for the future BS2 Berkeley Springs Bike and Skate Park.
