Easton resigns from council

Kenny Easton has resigned from the Town of Bath Council. In a letter to Mayor Susan Webster received November 9, Easton said he could no longer serve on council because he is moving out of town.

Easton has served on council since his election in 2005 and was reelected in June to a second term. Previously, at the November 6 council meeting, Easton said that he had retired from his job with the Morgan County Commission.

New State Police commander at Berkeley Springs Detachment

The Berkeley Springs State Police have a new commander. Sergeant Scott E. Davis. Davis, age 41, took command of the detachment Monday morning, November 12. Davis replaced Sergeant C. A. Mahood who transferred to the Philippi detachment near Buchannon. Davis is a 15 1/2 year state police veteran.

The transfers allowed both Davis, who lives in the Highland Ridge area of Morgan County, and Mahood to command state police detachments near their homes.

U.S. Silica closing offices after 80 years here



U.S. Silica Company will close its corporate offices in Berkeley Springs as a result of combining business functions with General Chemical Industrial Products, Inc., the company announced last week.

Police chase trucker through town



Bath Town Police Officer PFC Richard Haynes was parked on the north side of N. Washington Street near Williams Street Saturday evening, October 13 at 6:17 p.m., when he observed an 18 wheel tractor-trailer headed south on N. Washington Street at a high rate of speed.

Streetscape Committee reviews bids

Town of Bath Streetscape Committee has received ten responses to the Request for Proposal (RFP) that was sent out earlier this month.

The RFP is for the initial design work needed for streetscape improvements on Wilkes Street between Fairfax Street and Route 9 west and the connecting blocks of Congress and Independence Streets.

Freeman Companies outline latest plans for 1200-home village at former Coolfont

About 100 people, including a number of local officials, turned out on Monday evening, October 22, for a town meeting hosted by Carl M. Freeman Companies, Inc.

The meeting at Cacapon State Park was billed as a Coolfont project update.
