Sixty-four members, spouses, and guests attended the annual picnic of the Morgan County Association of Retired School Employees on Tuesday, August 20, at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church’s Carroll and Isabella Young Social Hall.

President Kathy Yost welcomed everyone and introduced two new retirees, Barbara Blankenship and Cindi Close. The group also welcomed the recipient of the West Virginia Association of Retired School Employees’ Scholarship, Katie Close, daughter of Jim and Susan Shetler Close of Berkeley Springs.

Jim Arbogast gave the blessing before the covered dish dinner.

Members were asked to record volunteer hours for the coming year. The dates of the upcoming meetings were announced and are always the third Tuesday of each month in various locations. The association may enter a float in this year’s Apple Butter Festival, and members volunteered to work on this endeavor.

The next luncheon meeting will be held Tuesday, September 17, at Cacapon Lodge. David Pruitt, assistant superintendent, will discuss the upcoming renovations and additions that will occur in the next two years. All retired school employees are welcome to attend.
