14th annual golf tournament

The 14th annual Berkeley Springs-Morgan County Chamber of Commerce golf tournament took place on June 5 at Cacapon State Park. All money raised goes toward the Chamber’s commitment to community projects.

Unfortunately, no player on the course aced the hole-inone on #15 for the 2013 Nissan Altima challenge sponsored by Eddie’s Tire Service and Hamilton Nissan.

Tournament winners: Flight One first place team Franklin Miles & Company, players - Tom Hadden, Charlie Lowey, Mike Beahm and Chris Beahm. Second place team - Mountain View Solar players Mike McKechnie, Brian Romine, Bob Marggraf and Dale McCumbee. Third place team- Luke Christie - State Farm Insurance, players, Luke Christie, Jay Redick, Jim McGivern and Dave Piepenbrik.

Second Flight first place team - Berkeley Springs Best Western Inn, players Matt Omps, Andy Omps, Larry Omps and Timmy Compton. Second place team - Eddie’s Tire Service, players Terry Craven, Charles Carpenter, Chad Carpenter and Ira Manley. Third place team - War Memorial Hospital, players Neil McLaughlin, Brad Close, Keith Beddow and Michael Adams.

Closest-to-the-pin winners included Charlie Carpenter, Mike Beahm, Jay Redick and Andy Omps. Longest drive winners were Brad Close and Chris Beahm.

The Chamber recognized all teams, corporate sponsors and donors at the picnic luncheon after the tournament. Gold Corporate Sponsors included: Close CPAs & Close Insurance, CNB Bank, and Luke Christie-State Farm Insurance.

Lunch was sponsored by Trump and Trump. The beverage cart was sponsored by Atasia Spa, Berkeley Springs Moose Lodge #1483, Blue Flame, Morgan Sanitation and Triad Engineering.

“The management and staff of the Cacapon Golf Course were instrumental in the success of the tournament. Charlie Fields and all his staff provided outstanding service,” Chamber President Lyn Goodwin said. “

Rob Ford of Bob’s Big Beef donated a tent for the luncheon.

The tournament was planned by Chamber members Bob Marggraf, Lyn Goodwin, Mark Harrell, Tom Rokisky and Beth Curtin. Helping with arrangements and the day of the activity Dennis Curtin, Judy Fisher and Laura Smith.
